Topic Today hospitals have so many different challenges ranging from expensive IT projects to controlling supply spend. In manufacturing, they also have similar challenges and there are excellent lessons to be learned from them. The challenge is bringing manufacturing methodologies to healthcare and having them be successful. It is possible if you take a systematic and compassionate approach to process improvement in the healthcare environment. This presentation will overview what is the same and what are some of the unique challenges that healthcare faces when trying to implement lean!.
Suzi Collins, CMRP has been in the business of improving processes and supply chain operations in the healthcare industry for over 20 years. Suzi is a lean practitioner and currently working with Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network to provide supply chain process improvement methodology for their surgical services departments across five hospitals. She brings a breadth of knowledge both in healthcare and from her experience with Stanley Black & Decker. The methodology at Stanley Black & Decker is a four-tiered approach which encompasses, Process Optimization, Technology, Complexity Management, and Supply Chain Excellence. She was part of the team which transferred the proven methodology into a program that could be used in hospitals. By approaching her projects in hospitals with these techniques she can help them to transform their culture and business. Suzi completed her lean training/certification with Lean Healthcare West in 2008 and in September 2013 she obtained her CMRP (Certified Materials Resource Professional) through the American Hospital Association. Currently she is also studying to complete her Bachelor of Applied Science in Logistics and Supply Chain with NAU. To register for this evenings event please call 480-609-3999.
